status: Away until August 31 – writing.
Strokes of inspiration impaled my brain yesterday, so I’m taking three weeks away from posting blogs/exercises (general internet activities) in order to focus entirely on my novels.
I don’t know where I’ll be at the end of those three weeks, but I might blog about it when I return.
On a sidenote; have you ever noticed how many titles use definite articles and prepositions for dramatic effect? A Wheel of Time, A Song of Ice and Fire, A Walk to Remember… but also, other variations like No country for old men or One ring to rule them all….
I’m currently researching this to establish a title for my fantasy series without being super cliche, but also not being uppity-artsy by using like one word (…Twilight), though I have thought about that, but I wouldn’t know what term to choose because there’s not yet one that exactly expresses the story itself. I considered a nonsense word that I could claim as my own, like Madonna, but how many people would get that on first glance? Does it matter if people understand at first glance? I’ve had a couple working titles for the series for years, but it feels like the right time to choose the final draft title.
What makes a title beautiful and resonating?
In the meantime, here’s a list of NINE influential and inspirational musicians to tide you over;
